Northeast Storm varsity team advances to "Frozen Four" with appearance in 2021 Buckeye Cup semifinals.

The Northeast Storm varsity team had a great finish to the 2020-2021 hockey season as they qualified for the Buckeye Cup USA Hockey Ohio High School State Championship that was hosted by Columbus this year during the weekend of February 26th-28th.  Our student athletes made us very proud by advancing to the state semifinals to finish as one of the top four teams in the state of Ohio, losing to the eventual state champion Dayton Stealth.  Congratulations to the varsity team and coaching staff!

MYHockey 2020-21 Ohio HS - USA Hockey Rankings

The MYHockey ranking system is used to determine state rankings for hockey teams/organizations and determine who will qualify for the Buckeye Cup State Tournament. The top 12 teams qualify for States at the end of the season.

FINANCIALS

How much does it cost to play for the Storm?

For the 2020-21 season, fees are $360.00 /month running from Sep - Feb (6 months) = $2,160.  Fees do not include costs for equipment or incidental expenses such as meals, lodging, etc. for out of town tournaments).

Families with more than one player get a 25% discount on the 2nd player.

What about payments?

Checks payable to Northeast Storm should be mailed by the 10th of the month to:   PO Box 1203, Powell OH 43065

 

Northeast Storm Mandatory Tryouts

*Due to the limitation of number of players allowed on ice at one time, we will be having two sessions on each night of tryouts.  The session that you will be assigned to will be announced closer to tryouts after all paperwork is submitted. 

**Tryout paperwork must be completed and submitted electronically by Wednesday August 11th, by sending forms to the Team Registar Matt Spaulding.

Tryout Dates will be for any student athlete that falls within the Northeast Storm District and will be entering the 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade this upcoming 2020-21 school year:

  • August 18th, 2020 @ Ice Haus

-Session 1 = 8:10pm-9:10pm

-Session 2 = 9:20pm-10:20pm

  • August 19th, 2020 @ Ice Haus

-Session 1 = 7:10pm-8:10pm

-Session 2 = 8:20pm-9:20pm

Please COMPLETE ALL FORMS IN ADVANCE and submit them prior to the tryouts to team registrar (Matt Spaulding: Dspaulding@ameritech.net ) along with your valid 2020-2021 USA Hockey number.  A $100 check made payable to Northeast Storm will also be needed and can be turned in on the day of tryouts.  Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the tryouts begin.

BUCKEYE CUP 2020

The Buckeye Cup is the State Tournament for USA Hockey high school teams in Ohio.  Congratulations to the Northeast Storm Varsity team for qualifying for the tournament held in Cleveland. The team had a record of 1 win and 2 losses in their pool play, Finishing 12th in the state in the final rankings!  Great effort all year - you've made the organization proud!



The GCHSCHL is now the OSHL!

Over the summer of 2017 our league has undergone a name change.  The Greater Columbus High School Club Hockey League is now called the Ohio Scholastic Hockey League.  The change was made for various reasons, including wanting the ability to recognize the continued importance of education as well as recognizing the fact that we have teams in the league outside of the Columbus area.
